New Twist Out
Ok, So as you saw on the post before this one, I wore twist for about a week. I took the twists out Friday, October 21 to wear a twist out. I used black Vanilla Leave in Conditioner and Marguerite's Magic to moisturize it. October 22, I went to a wedding. In order to keep it tamed in the front, I did two flat twists in the front of my head, one to the left and one to the right. It kept the hair orderly throughout the day, and I was happy with the result.

Two Strand Twists
I decided to turn to protective styles for the fall//winter. My decision to do this is mostly based on trying to maintain my ends and to have more hair growth. I have not twisted my hair before after it was already dry, but this time I did. Note to self, NEVER DO THIS AGAIN. I had soooo much shedding and knotting it was ridiculous, so from now on I will be doing the twists on wet hair, shrinkage or not. I have done twists on dry hair before BUT it was already detangled, this time I tried detangling as I went along, BAD IDEA! But the end product was nice.
I used Carol's Daughter's Marguerite's Magic and Black Vanilla Leave in Conditioner.

My Workout Motivations
We all know that it's tough to keep motivation for working out, but ultimately it's in our best interest to keep our hearts and bodies healthy. I've already written a post on my weight loss posted February 2010. This particular posting is dedicated to how I maintained my weight loss.
Honestly, It's great to have someone around you who can say "When was the last time you went to the gym?" It will keep you going. It's great to have someone you can go to the gym with or take some sort of active class with. I signed up for a 5k race that was held this past April. This forced me to get in the gym more often and to run outdoors to build my endurance and to work for a quicker time. Setting goals is key. If you have nothing that you are working towards, it's much harder to quit. Remember baby steps are key. Don't try and set a huge goal and expect to reach it in a day. It will only make you lose motivation that much quicker. Majority of the fight in motivating yourself for a workout is mental! Once you can overcome your mental obstacles, the physical part comes right along.
Having natural hair has made it easier to just get up and workout when i'm wearing a wash and go, but when I'm not, it is more difficult to convince myself to get up and hit the gym. However, the healthier you are in your body, your hair will be that more healthy, so let's get it going! Just be sure to rinse that sweat out of your hair.
So my advice is to set a goal that you have to work towards, whether that means signing up for a 5K, buying a beautiful dress that's a size too small, buying new workout gear, buying nothing but water to drink, signing up for a dance class that has a recital at the end, and etc.
Currently, Ive been going to the gym and had not set a goal for it, which made it harder for me to stay motivated, but as of recently, I long to see more muscle definition, not necessarily weight loss. I want to be in the best shape that I can be and be a more disciplined person in every facet of my life, and from what I hear, working out is one of the best ways to do that.
Hope this helps!

Rawr, the Mane attacks!
I now use Carol's Daughter on my hair for just about ALL my natural hair care needs. Why? Because it actually works for me. She has different products that service the different needs of my hair.
Ive been rocking different styles lately from twists, twist outs, and pin curl outs (not sure if that's a style, lol). I dont really like to straighten my hair but I did so just to trim it!
To wash, I used Carol's Daughter's Tui Shampoo. To deep condition I used the Tui Smoothie. Then I used the Black Vanilla Leave in conditioner and some of the mimosa Honey to detangle and before blow drying and voila! BIG HAIR! lol

Wet Twist Out
So I decided to try and do a wet twist out because normally I blow dry my hair then twist it (see previous posts). This time, I washed and conditioned my hair, once I rinsed the conditioner out, I did not blow dry it. My hair is somewhere between a 3c/4a texture.
Next, I saturated my hair with a leave in conditioner by "B Smooth." It's a creamy conditioner. I kept a spray bottle on hand, and parted my hair from ear to ear. I put the back half into a butterfly clip, and began to twist the front.
I did about 10 twists in the front and 8 in the back this time. I kept a spray bottle of water with me to re-saturate the hair once it began to air dry.
Once that was completed, I sat under my hair dryer for about 45 minutes so that it would dry completely (I didnt have time for it to air dry). And here is the finished product...
This is how I will be doing my twist outs from now on, mostly because It took me less time to twist it while it was wet, and I didnt lose any hair. Before, when I would blow dry it first before twisting, I noticed more shedding. The best way for hair growth is to stay healthy and try and maintain the hair that you have. Thought wet twist outs make the hair look shorter, it is healthier for the hair.
